2023
Much of the survey resulted from research projects and commissioned surveys of macrofungal diversity in Irish woodlands. The purpose of the survey is to document the macrofunagal diversity in Irish woodlands and related habitats.
Specimens were collected and identifications were made by the author from fresh specimens.
The dataset covers mainly native or mixed woodland locations in counties Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Limerick, Roscommon, Tipperary and Wicklow
May 2022
The quality of the survey should be considered High. Taxa are included in the survey on the basis of unambiguous identifications by the author based on gross morphology and microscopic characters in fresh specimens, where the latter were required for definitive identification. A separate database of photographs was made to support identifications. In some cases specimens were referred to referees for confirmation. Ambiguous species were not included in the dataset. Nomenclature in the dataset is up-to-date as of December 2022 (following the Index Fungorum, Species Fungorum and Checklist of the British & Irish Basidiomycota online databases). Referred to referees for confirmation.
