Alpine Newt Control in Private Ponds (LBAF-GYCC-25-1)
Dataset records the locations and numbers of alpine and smooth newts recorded
2025
2025
Galway County Council LBAF funded project to support the eradication efforts of Ichthyosaura alpestris populations in Galway, prevent further spread to nearby water bodies, and establish baseline data for long-term monitoring
Surveys conducted using netting, All amphibians were identified, counted, and removed following biosecure handling protocols
The datasets provides ecological data on site-specific areas. As some sites are large, the resolution refers to the broad areas within the boundaries of such described lands. Typically, these areas are pars, and therefore the resolution refers to a park area. Therefore the resolution of data is relatively low. A supplementary report has been made which highlights the broad habitats of the dominant plant species assemblages.
