Survey Details - CreBeo earthworm survey
CreBeo earthworm survey
Earthworm records from a national survey of soil biodiversity in 61 sites of different land use types across the Republic of Ireland. Earthworms were recorded in 49 of these sites.
2006
2007
Part of EPA-funded research project collecting baseline data on soil biodiversity in Irish soils (CréBeo).
Earthworms were sampled from the soil at each site using a combination of hand-sorting and mustard extraction methods. Earthworms were preserved and later identified under stereomicroscope.
Republic of Ireland
Sampling conducted in Autumn 2006 and 2007.
All uncommon earthworm species were verified by Dr Olaf Schmidt. The new record for Ireland, Prosellodrilus amplisetosus, was verified by Dr Maria J. I. Briones.
