Dataset Details - Otter Survey of Ireland 1982
Dataset with records of otter signs, and some fish species, made during the period of the survey.

This survey was the first systematic survey of otter distribution in Ireland.
Full details of the data capture methodology is available in NPWS IWM No. 23. Searches for otter signs were made at 2,373 pre-selected sites across the country.

Surveys carried out by PJ & LL Chapman. Data entered into MS Access database by Dr Jane Preston. Resurvey of sites means that the dataset includes false positives, however this is only a problem when undertaking a statistical analysis of the dataset. Data is of a high quality.
