Stored data were reprocessed offline using PAMGuard configured to detect odontocete clicks with energy in the 2 kHz to 150 kHz band. Data were first digitally filtered to remove unwanted noise from the signal. Individual detected clicks were first classified using a classifier that used frequency and time-based parameters from the waveforms of clicks. The PAMGuard displays were carefully reviewed by an analyst to identify the sequences of clicks deemed to be from individuals or groups. The operator assigned a final species group classification to each event (guided by the program’s classification and by their assessment of the characteristics of individual clicks).
