To record the location of badger setts to support the national strategy towards eradication of Tuberculosis in cattle in Ireland.
Staff members of the Dept. of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, as part of their duties relating to follow-up of herd breakdowns due to tuberculosis, carry out surveys of lands for badger setts. The data contains the location of any badger setts collected as part of this process.
Island of Ireland, excluding Northern Ireland.

All of the data is collected by qualified fieldworkers, who are all Dept of Agriculture staff and who follow a Standard Operating Procedure laid down for the task.
The Dataset is current as of 30 June 2016. The data presented form a subset of a larger database maintained by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
