The data set contains records of otter spraints collected during surveys carried out by the MISE Project in Roaringwater Bay, Co. Cork between 2011 and 2014.

Otter surveys were carried out to examine otter distribution, habitat use and population information in Roaringwater Bay, Co. Cork. This data was also used to compare with previous radio tracking studies of otters in the same area.
Experienced members of the MISE team led trained volunteers on surveys to find and collect otter spraints in selected survey sites. Spraints collected during an undergraduate project by students from Leeuwarden University are also included in the dataset. Spraints collected were subjected to DNA testing to verify the identity of the species of origin.
