The data set contains records of otter spraints collected during a survey carried out by the MISE Project in Killarney National Park in 2013. A small number of other otter records from Co. Kerry are also included.

Otter surveys were carried out to examine otter distribution, habitat use and population information in Killarney National Park, Co. Kerry.
Experienced members of the MISE team led trained volunteers on the survey to find and collect otter spraints in selected survey sites. Spraints collected were subjected to DNA testing to verify the identity of the species of origin.
